My husband completed 6 rounds of carbo/taxol today and will finish 30 radiation treatments at the end of this week. His oncologist is recommending consolidation chemo next ( after scans) using carboplatin and alimta.
Can anyone tell us what to expect from this type of “full strength “ chemo compared to the “light” version he had while doing radiation? He has tolerated this weekly chemo very well.
These are scheduled 3 weeks apart.

4 rounds of Carboplatin /Alimta was my first line of treatment followed by 3 Alimta maintenance. It’s not easy but doable. Let his oncologist know about side effects, stay hydrated and well rested. I had a very low grade temp throughout. Anti nausea meds are helpful as well as ginger lozenges. I’m in Colorado and could use CBD for nausea and appetite which also helped. Wishing you and your husband the best.
I finished 6 rounds of Cisplatin and Altima Tuesday. Expect Fatigue and make sure he drinks 85 ounces of water per day and everything has been ok, minimum hair loss and very little nausea
