Update on husband

Had a pet scan have 3 New tumors on liver and one on left rib. They are doing radiation (10) to ease pain on rib. Talking about taking him off Obdiva, since it doesn't appear to be working (on it since December). Is there another line of defense for him that y'all know about. He has already had 2 types of chemo. Stage 4 lung cancer mestasis.

I'm so sorry that he shows more tumors and that the therapy doesn't appear to be working. Cancer just really sucks and I know my poor husband has gotten so discouraged sometimes with my cancer. I guess I've been giving him a break for a few months now as no new tumors have appeared. I wish I knew the answer for your husband but I'm not well read or understanding of this monster. Please know my prayers are with both of you and will be looking for a miracle. With love, Debby

When you say two types of chemo are you including the opdivo? Can you tell me what he's had for chemo so far? There are several different types of chemo that can be had if the body is not too compromised for treatment.

He had Carboplatin+Paclitaxel, then Docetaxel, then Obdiva.

As Collinjo suggested, try to get in a trial.

There are still chemo drugs that can be given and the one they are likely to try next may be Gemzar. If it's been a year since the carboplatin that can be given again successfully.

The decision will include an evaluation of where he is physically. Can he manage his self care? Bathe and toilet himself?
