Sooo my Dad had a PET scan after several rounds of Opdivo and it looks as though the disease is progressing with some new disease noted in the report. Going back on chemo is an option, just unfortunate as it really takes a toll on him and he's had such an "active" few months while getting the Opdivo infusions, and has even gained back some weight...
Talk a about a rock and a hard place...but he's a fighter and whatever the doctors suggest we trust they are doing right by him....
Love you dad scottcharlop

I received Opdivo for a little over one year. Scans done about 3 months apart indicated progress was being made. CT scan, PET scan and MRI done a couple of weeks ago indicate some spread. They took me off Opdivo and I am back on chemo. I too was living a half normal life while on Opdivo and chemo is really hard to go back to. I wish your father the best in his battle.
So sorry to hear the news. But I agree with your keep-fighting attitude. And I am glad you have a good relationship with the medical team. Still, don't ever feel hesitant to get a second or third opinion, if your Dad is willing. Keep taking care of one another and please keep us updated if you can. Hugs.
Oh, am so sorry to hear this news. How long was your Dad on immunotherapy before the scan? The possibility of pseudoprogression with immunotherapy can make treatment decisions especially difficult. Here is one article on pseduoprogression that might be helpful. cancergrace.org/lung/tag/ps... It is promising that your Dad was feeling better and able to gain some weight. Please keep us posted!
Thank you so I much Mary!!! You are always so helpful and I appreciate your knowledge!!! I'm forwarding this article to my Dad. The doctor did mention pseudoprogression so he is going to have 2 or 3 more treatments w Opdivo and have a scan in 6 weeks!
I start in 2 wks on opdivo. Is there any things that I need to prepare for. I hane 3 stage lung cancer. The Dr. Wants to try. I'll take any advice please
My husband was on Opdiva before it was FDA approved for his type of cancer. It actually kept him stable for 15 momths....then the medicine figured out how to get around the cancer...so now he is on his 3rd different type of medicine. Nothing is working. So we praise Opdiva.....it was great for my husband. I'm sorry it didn't work for you guys. Sending prayers & positive vibes!!! On October 26th, 2014 they gave him 3 to 18 months. So in 12 days it'll be 2 years....he's proving everyone is different....and he's putting up one hell of a fight...good luck!!
