My lower legs, just above my ankles on the front of the legs, are always red first thing in the morning. Is this due to my lymhoedema or am I just 'odd'??

Red lower legs!!
Not sure if similar, but after a shower the inside of my foot and lymphoedema leg go bright red for 15 mins then it goes.
Hi, I know what you mean about your legs being red, mine are all the time, not just in the moorning, I also find if i have crossed my legs during the night in my sleep, i have indentations where one leg has been on top of the other one and they are so sore......
Hi, my left leg has a red patch on it permanently but I have associated this with the cellulitis that flares up. But may be due to lymphoedema?
Hi yes my legs go red during the shower in patches and then disappears later - this has only happened after having a case of cellulitis last year so I imagine this has made my lymphoedema worse
Is you leg red when you are lying down as well as when you are standing up? Aside from when I've had cellulitis I find that my leg is only red immediately after I take my compression off or when my foot is below the level of my hips. BTW I prefer baths to showers because that means less time vertical without compression, gravity being contributor to swelling.
Ooh, not sure guys. Showers don't seem to affect my legs, they have shrunk quite a bit overnight, shame about the rest of my body, but some people think my legs are very red all of the time. They're not...only as I get up in the morning. The redness, to my mind, lessens once I'm up and trying to move around, so I don't really know what to think. But thanks guys for your replies. It's nice to think I'm not on my own cos I'm the only person I know with lymphoedema. XXX
Sue57....Good to hear that your leg goes down over night. Do you then wear compression all the time during day? If you don't gravity, the biggest enemy of us folks with lymphodiema, will immediately take over and pull guild into you leg. When I've had cellulitis I had seen it, and felt it, do this within seconds. Now the only time I don't wear compression is in the bath and I'm bed. My 2p worth, hope it helps.
Thanks Andy. I'm ashamed to say I don't wear my stockings every day, only when I feel my legs are swelling beyond acceptance. I find they give me terrible pain and cramp in my toes. Your 2p worth is more like £1 to me!!
my lower legs go red and purple when showering and sting badly. goes once dry and support tights on. fun eh|
I was wondering the exact same thing. This is a new development for me. I also have recently gained more weight than I'm used to and sometimes my ankles swell. I also am recovering from a back surgery and have recently increased the amount of more vigorous walking I'm able to do. I do get very thirsty and the hair on my legs is growing much more slowly, but the light neuropathy in my feet seems to be improving. It makes me feel better that someone else has experienced similar symptoms. However I really don't know what on Earth is going on.
