Question for everyone. I’m almost positive I have cellulitis in my inner thigh area where my leg meets my pelvic area (almost vaginal area). I noticed this morning it felt hot and tender to the touch but really didn’t think much else of it. I see my OB tomorrow (2 weeks post partum), so I went ahead and shaved so he could better see the infected area. Well now it really burns/stings. And now I did all my research and it looks like it’s cellulitis. Did shaving the area make it any worse? I’m a bit nervous now thinking I may have made my situation worse. Thanks in advance!

I shaved before I suspected cellulitis. Could I have made the situation worse? Also I had the same thing happen when I was pregnant but I had no idea what it was. It went away on its own in a bout a week. Is that typical for it to go away on its own?
Was it diagnosed when you were pregnant or did you just think it was cellulitis? It is not typical for cellulitis to resolve without medication. Yes, shaving will, can and frequently does, make the ‘situation’ worse.
And if an OB/GYN consultant is averse to pubic hair,he/she is in the wrong job 😉
It was not diagnosed when I was pregnant. I didn’t bring it up to OB because it had come and gone in about a weeks time. But now doing all my research it looked/looks exactly like cellulitis. Okay I see the OB in about an hour so hopefully I have answers. Just a bit nervous. Thank you for the insight!
My bad - I thought you might have lymphoedema as this site is run by the UK Lymphoedema Support Network. Cellulitis is a very nasty and serious condition which can strike lymphoedema patients, and can be life threatening.
