burning sensation
Hi Dash, yes my feet and legs get tired with heavy feeling and feel very hot especially wearing stockings. I use ice packs over the stockings or run cold water over my legs. its worth a mention to you GP just in case you are having a ‘flare’ with your fibro. 🙂
Hi Dash, I get a burning sensation on the top of my foot when standing and not wearing my compression stocking and toe caps.
Hello Dash01,
Maybe your compression needs checking over to see if you need to reduce strength or increase its strength.
I now wear compression wraps with a lining sock. But the lining sock has a seam, and that seam causes my toes to be painful after awhile and when resting my toes get pins and needles. However, the level o compression on my legs is tolerable and with the wraps I can wear shoes.
12 weeks ago I had cellulitus in both legs it was agony and I could wear nothing for weeks. However after about 4 -6 weeks of me begging for medical help from all the surces you can imagine, my cellulitis started to ease with antibiotics and painkillers and then the ambulatory care clinic were able to dress my legs. They used conservative bandaging to start and awful surgical shoes. I felt like I was clomping around, they also had to be changed twice or thrice weekly, then the clinic switched me to 50% compression and then some amazing transformations took place.
The calf of my leg which had been enormous and extremely large began to look slimmer and a lot smaller as lymph fluid was being reused by the body. My ankles which for weeks and weeks earlier resembled tree trunks were no longer and instead they felt weak, very narrow.
Today, I am wearing compression wraps, but I have issues with seam on the liner socks and as they have only prescribed these for my legs my feet are only just starting to swell a little again now, but by far the worst feeling is pins and needles and the ocassional cramps in my toes.
So, if you are having flare ups where you feel that heat is getting to you, could it be that you have the wrong compression on. Have you got cellulitis as redness and burning is one of the symptoms of that. Is something not quite right with your circulation. Ask for a check up until you get it. Can't get one in 72 hours try again in 48, do not stop until you get your check up. Otherwise, your pains will drag on for weeks and weeks with no real treatments.
I believe that had I not called my GP 6 times, been to a walk in Centre via 111, been in to dermatology when the cellulitis was at its wirst, been in to A & E when my pains had me cripppled, then finally I get a GP appointment. Only to be told that the changes in my legs were permanent and that I needed compression asap. How wrong was she. But then she was the only person in a very large busy centre practice, I was able to get an appointment with after 6 weeks of hell. The only good thing to come out of it was the ambulatory care appointments some two weeks later.
Don't give up. Get that appointment, you need it and do everything you can to get it.
