I had my leg garments custom made in Germany but they were designed to fit properly. Would have been ideal except I have neuropathic pain and they were too much for me. Thats also another point to consider. Not everyone can wear them for various reasons. Some find they are too tight or not tight enough. Some find they slide down (even with the prescribed glue) and cut in on ankles.
It took 3 goes before I got a custom made stocking which fitted well. It wasn't because my lymphoedema nurse wasn't measuring well but a question of working round the nuances of my body. In my case we found that it's best if my thigh is measured more loosely than would be the norm. Us lymphies have to be up for much trial and error when it comes to getting compression that works well.
Really good question. Not sure I can help, but if any gents on here are having issues, please do insist on having a trained professional take your measurements . Good luck.
