Covid-19-lymphedema complications
Yes… I’m included in the study re Covid vaccine effects the Lymphoedema researchers at St George’s University Hospital in London are doing. (I was already under St. George’s LE genetics and clinical teams due to the complexity of the type of primary LE that I have). Some Covid jab side effects have been permanent (the first of 3 jabs was AZ in Feb 2021 followed by Moderna). I’m will not be having any more Covid jabs due to the adverse systemic and lymph effects. Some side effects in first month post each jab have settled whilst others have persisted (it been 6+ months post 3rd jab). If you’ve only recently had your 3rd or 4th jab then give it time and hopefully your side effects settle. Good luck.
No. I had 2 Astra Zeneca Oxford jabs and Pfizer booster. No side effects at all. No change in Lymphoedema.
Yes, I definitely had more swelling after the first Pfizer shot and then again after shot number 3 which was Moderna. I felt appalling for a day (feverish and achy) and swelling in my leg was definitely worse although it returned to its normal after a few days.
Yes. And still suffering even though I had it a year ago. Increased swelling and pain.
The Moderna I had last time got stuck in my neck for ages, about 4 weeks or so. Does make me worry how effective it was. Didn't have any issue with the AZ that I noticed. Do we have a recommended type then based on these observations and the study mentioned above?
My son, who has primary lymphedema in his right leg, got the Pfizer vaccination and had a lot of inflammation and pain in his leg for about a month after the shot. He has decided to not get the booster shot after that experience. The doctors have no clue about the effects of these shots on patients with lymphedema and said that there would be no problems with the shot.
