Lymphoedema surgery ...2nd post: Tonight ITV Wales... - LSN
Lymphoedema surgery ...2nd post
thanks so much for the update......I tried to get a referral last year but could not from England......Perhaps things will expand now.......I also am trying to get it done in Italy with the NHS......
Hi
This hospital is three miles away from me. I was ecstatic when I heard that there was something just down the road, that could possibly help my primary lipodeama / lymphodeama.
I have had this condition in both legs for over thirty years. I was then told I couldn't be considered for treatment because whilst it was being trialed, they would only be taking patients within a certain criteria.
This doesn't include my condition although I have suffered the acute pain and embarrassment for thirty plus years and the condition raises my BMI putting me in the not suitable range.
I understand whilst this surgery is new and they want to show figures that are positive, in order to get further funding. This may be the case but I can't understand why a deliberating condition suffered over many years, should not be considered along with a swollen lymb developed after surgery.
Please don't think I am underestimating how horrible and painful this is for post opp but please consider primary lipodeama / lymphodeama as seriously.
