I get full dla mobility and care componant for mine. Get the forms and put down all details of doctor specialist if you have one even the lymphoedena nurse can help. They get forms that they have to fill in and depending on the severity of your condition you might get it.

Great post, will help a lot of lower limb lymphies and also anyone with whole trunk that affects their mobility. You might find that an adviser at a local CAB can help you to complete the mystifying forms

Can you please let me have some more details about the forms that need completing. I have been trying to get some help for my mother who is nearly immobile as her legs are so large but I am constantly told there is no help locally. Thank you

Why is there no help - she should be refered to a Lymph nurse .

Thanks for the response. We have been told that there is no such role. How did you find yours?

Hi, I am like emgr and have no support from GP. Had operation (hernia) 5 yrs ago had serious reaction to the operation and legs swelled up. Went to GP in summer as had an infection on leg and was told then that I had Lymphoedema and had had it for 5 yrs! Given antibiotics for infection and told to put my legs in the air and nothing else can be done. No referral to specialist nurse, nothing not even compression socks (don't live in mid Essex!). Cant walk far, 50 -100 yds at most (using a rollator). Nearest bus 200 yds +

Used the internet to find out more, used Pebbles Uk for compression socks. Just found out that there is a specialist nurse near but at a private hospital, can have referral from GP but after being told nothing else can be done in August there is not much hope for a refferal. Just feel discarded. Am going to try to get PIP but wont hold my breathe.

Just found this site and I feel much better knowing there are thousands of other people just like me and has given me more determination to improve, regardless of GP etc.
