Has anyone had or heard of endermologie? It has been suggested to me by a dermatologist, to reduce the swelling in my calf.

It is a treatment used for reducing cellulite and has been used in the treatment of lymphoedema. As it is an aggressive and not gentle technique like MLD i am concerned about causing more damage to the lymphatics.

Hi Nelbat. Yes; long before i was diagnosed as having lymphoedema i tried all sorts of cosmetic treatments to treat what I thought were just fat legs. it is A: very expensive B: quite painful and as you say too aggressive and C: an absolute waste of your money! Really, if you have lymphoedema, it would be better and safer to spend the money on regular MLD massage. NNE

Did a Consultant Dermatologist in a hospital recommend this, or a dermatology therapist? I would strongly advise you against this form of treatment, unless it has radically changed since I first saw it being done a decade ago.

Has this been recommended by a private dermatologist as it is often an expensive treatment for which there is no scientific evidence but is hyped up by private cosmetic dermatologists - certainly no evidence to support its use in lymphoedema
