I have lymphoedema in my left arm and I think it's spreading under the armpit and across the chest. Reconstructed breast is feeling tender like mild pins and needles. Has anyone has symptoms like this. Is there any discomfort across the chest with lymphoedema. Been sent for a bone scan just in case.

Chest pain
I have lymphoedema in my left arm and have noticed that I can't wash my armpit area easily because of that, but I discovered that once I restarted swimming there was a very substantial reduction in the lymohoedema especially around my armpit. So maybe try swimming. I didn't have mastectomy so can't comment on breast reconstruction. Hope they don't discover anything to worry about. It might just be something to do with a nerve. Good luck!
I have lymphoedema in my left arm and have also had left breast reconstruction. I also have pains in my reconstructed breast but am told it is nerve damage and the muscle which they threaded through under my arm from my back in order to do the reconstruction. My lymphoedema Nurse however did give me a compression bra to see how I go on with this and so far I am finding it much better with wearing the compression bra some of the time. I still wear my nice bras to go out in etc. Also as Rebec says try swimming if you can as exercise definitely helps. Good luck.
Pins and needles probably something to do with nerve endings knitting together.
Thank you ladies for your replies. I am trying some aquafit classes with my lymphoedema Physio next week to build my confidence back up in the water. Anxiety levels waiting for bone scan results are very high. She noticed my shallow breathing and suggested some guided sessions to get me back to exercise and relax. Logging on to this site makes me feel less alone dealing with my lymphoedema
Welcome neverenoughsparkle. Hope this site lets some of your sparkle return. I too have left arm lympoedema following mastectomy and node clearance, but no reconstruction. Nerve endings knitting together can be like pins and needles and also 'sparks' but still go back to your breast nurse and tell them. Swimming has helped my arm and chest wall to remain manageable with sleeve and glove.
