I'm on setraline 150mg , baisacly all my life and I'm suffering from very random panic/anxiety attacks and don't know what is triggering them. I could be thinking about "normal stuff" and it would just happen.?
It has took over : I'm on setraline... - Living with Anxiety
It has took over
Hello Berenice92 & Welcome
I hope when others see your post they will say hello to you and make you feel welcome even though we are a small Community and very quite
I am wondering how long you have been on your medication , if it has been a while now it could be a good idea to speak with your Doctor as they should be helping and could be a case the dosage either needs changing or maybe trying some thing different ?
However if you have not been on them long then they do take several months to take full effect
I have always found with anxiety that we think it is not about and then it can hit us all of a sudden , this I think can be quite normal , it is like it is lurking in the background just looking and waiting for a little gap to try and take over again , as when we are feeling good it has lost control and anxiety hates loosing control !
If and when this happens , don't fear it but try and accept it and the more you do and let it come and then go again you will find these episodes get less and less
If you need a chat you know where we are and be reassured we do all understand how you feel because we have either been there or are still going through it
Take Care x
I have been on sertraline since I was a child.. suppose you could say I was born with it. Also not sure if this also matters but I have high functioning autism. It's confusing to know if it's just my autism or anxiety that makes me feel the way I am.. and how to cope with both. Think I need some coping techniques, as medication really only keeps you calm but when episodes of anxiety arise I'm not sure what to do.
Hello
Well we cannot say that you have not given the meds enough chance to work then can we
I wonder if as you have been on them for a long time if it could be your Doctor could review them and maybe now as an adult something else may be better to help you , I would certainly ask
With Autism everything can feel so much more confusing and we can have a tendency to doubt especially our own judgement so it could be playing a part in how you feel but anxiety also is something that Autistic people suffer from but both conditions can be managed
As you have had Autism all your life , have you got contact details for people and organisations that can support and help you ?
Your Doctor should be able to give you some contacts as well as maybe some Counselling to help you work out what is exactly happening could benefit you which again your Doctor could refer you for
On Health Unlocked we have all different Communities and I have found one that is for people with Autism which I will pop you the link on so you can take a look as we can never have to much support and you can join more than one Community on Health unlocked to try and get as much support as you can
If you need to talk though just log on someone will always be about to listen to you x
