Please try & be rest-assured, the CPN you are seeing today will be empathetic towards you. They are probably expecting a degree of Anxiety ect or you would"nt have been referred to the Service of the CPN"s otherwise.
Community Psychiatric Nurse, so I assume this person is coming out to your home to see you?
I have been under a CPN for many years, it is inevitable you will feel nervous or over-anxious on the First-visit but these people are trained in Mental Health Illness, how ever they manifest themselves.
What ever you have, or what ever you say, this Nurse has heard it all before. If you feel nervous, don"t hide it, just be who you are & speak honestly as they are coming to help you.
Please trust me, I don"t know what I would have done without my CPN as I can contact her @ the Psychiatric Hospital in between Appointments if I need to talk!
It is a wonderful Service they are providing for you, just try be yourself, the more you get to know your CPN (as usually see the same one each visit) the easier it will get!
Good luck to you, let us know how you get on?
In my thoughts & prayers
Sending Hugs your way

hi horsemad, my o/h has just seen her CPN this morning, they are lovely, they will ask what your problems are in a considerate way, they will talk to you about positives not negatives, you have waited so long, be truthful in what you say to her, tell her everything, she will build up a picture of your case, maybe even what medication you should be on, just be yourself , good luck. love jasper xx
Thankyou both, your comments are so helpful and that is why I like this site! I saw my CPN at my GP surgery i was there for well over an hour and she has said she wants to start me on anti depressants, only 10mg of citrapam (think that what it's called!) so thing don't get any worse, she also agrees with GP about probably having an eating disorder. I have to go in 2 weeks to see her again, she said the more she gets to know me the more she will be able to help and then reffer to other people. Xxxxx
Sounds like it went well and it's nice they want to help you and keep getting to know you to be able to properly refer. Good luck on your future visits.
