....just to check it out. Sampled almond flour baguette, not for me, but I may try the pizzas when they are open for dine-in. It's a bit expensive to sit in a wintry park or to reheat when I get home.
I visited the keto restaurant in Lond... - Low-Carb High-Fat...
I visited the keto restaurant in London recently
Fulham Palace Road is a place normally I would visit quite often. Thank you for sharing this amazing information Subtle_badger , I will definitely be paying this place a visit at some stage.
I’m always a bit confused when I see people trying to make keto cakes, biscuits and the like. It seems so pointless. Is it just me?
I am not tempted by them, but I don't think they are pointless. People like cakes, and not everyone wants to give up on them. I decided to switch to a sort of ancestral diet, but I know a lot of people who go keto immediately look for ultra-processed low carb versions of the foods they already eat, rather than switching to a completely different diet.
Of course, a restaurant really has to do keto baking or what's the point? I can go to any restaurant, and simply avoid the carby foods on the menu. But I can't have a burger in a bun - and that's the niche this restaurant fulfils.
I suppose what I really mean, is that having keto bread or cakes would just make you crave the actual real thing surely, which would then hinder your attempts to remain keto. If you find you’re craving more carbs, maybe you should just raise your carb limit for a while? Or am I suggesting heresy 😄
Bread for a sandwich was the one thing I searched for. Mainly because of travel and work. I swear if I hadn’t found something that filled that gap I would have failed miserably. Cake however I can live without 😄
Not heresy, but nonsense. If you are craving carbs early in your keto journey, the last thing you should do is eat some. It will undo the work you have done. It's like giving a recovering alcoholic a drink. You will be back to square one in far adaption, and may easily put you back on the insulin/blood glucose treadmill, even causing a binge.
Later on, you might be able to to eat a slice of cake without harm, but if a low carb, zero sugar version tastes good to you, then why not have that instead?
Exactly, it's like fake meat, what's the point?
Well....I quite like quorn ‘chicken’ pieces, but then I’m not vegetarian and eat real meat too. I eat fake meat because I try to reduce the amount of meat in my diet, for the good of the planet I suppose. It doesn’t make me crave real meat more. I just mix and match. It’s good in stir fries and soups.
I get it, I like veggie/bean burgers, but my point is why call it meat, it is not meat.
I think the analogy of fake meat and carb-less is reasonable and the point in both cases is obvious.
Many people give up meat for ethical or environmental reasons, not because they don't enjoy it. Fake meat will (if it's perfected) enable them to be ethical while still enjoying food they love.
Similarly many people really enjoy sweet foods, but have to stop eating sugar for health reasons. If they can still enjoy the foods they love without harming their health, then why not?
