I am new here and hope to learn a lot from everyone. I am a newly diagnosed diabetic so I decided to lose weight I will do anything to keep from going on the needle. I started my plan 7 days ago I have lost 14 lbs on my weigh-in and clothes are already feeling better YEA !! I am staying at 20 carbs or less a day. Its been ruff because of low money and empty kitchen I have eaten eggs for a week. I was starting to get really frustrated until I got on that scale and seen it was working. I can't wait to be able to buy more food and try some good recipes. 40 more lbs to lose I am so excited to. Everyone in my family is diabetic. They are all overweight I cant wait to show them there is a way to lose the weight they can come off the needle without a lot of suffering. Thank you for letting me share. This really works !!!

14 LBS in 7 days SHUT UP !! I AM New Here !!
Hi 15beansoup welcome!
That is an awesome weight loss for week 1- most I’ve lost at the start of losing was 5 pounds. Obviously it wouldn’t be healthy to continue to lose at that rate but with LCHF , when you’re fat burning it can come off more quickly.
Are you also keeping to a low calorie count? ( interested as I’m keen to try and speed my loss up!!)
I have no idea how many calories I was consuming I stayed right at 20 carbs per day if that helps any, I ate at least 2 eggs every 2 hrs fixed different ways, on 2 nights I had a baked chicken breast with 1 cup of lettuce and 3 tbs of mayo also on 2 days I fixed cheese omelets with buffalo sauce no carbs for the sauce. I also had 16 oz of coffee with 2 pks of sweetener and 1 tbs of whipping cream everyday and 2 diet pepsi 16 oz over the course of 4 days
What a great result!
Your diet does sound a bit limiting, so I hope you can sort this out because you may get sick of eating nothing but eggs. There are plenty of options even if you're short on cash - various posters have come up with some ideas on exactly that subject. Maybe they can re-post the links.
The bottom line though, is that fat is (a) nutrient-dense and (b) cheap, so you don't need to spend much money on it. If you can work some veg into every meal (check the markdown rack in the supermarket - there's usually a huge pile to choose from) you should be able to introduce enough variety to stick with it.
While I was pounding away on the treadmill today, I was actually pondering on the question: "how would I do LCHF if I were living on the streets and begging for money?" (yeah, I'm a bit weird and sometimes do these thought experiments to amuse myself). Maybe I'll post some thoughts on that subject tomorrow.
I really hope you can communicate your enthusiasm to your family ... although I have to say, you might find this an uphill struggle, even when they can see it working for you.
Don’t know if you are T1 or T2 but if it’s T2 I got a wonderful book by Dr David Cavan called Reverse your T2 Diabetes. Got that and bought a blood sugar meter and did everything he suggested and the pounds just fell off. That and the DietDoctor website and Diabetes.co.uk which is another really good community all helped me.
Think I read that he has a book about T1 too but I haven’t actually seen it myself. LCHF is definitely the way to go.
