Apologies firstly I have contacted help desk there appear to be some technical issues with my name change .

Now I have signed up for the 2 week diet dr challenge has any one else done that and gone on to full plan ? As we are shielding food delivery coming today so following from today . My husband is joining in but a sceptic he needs to lose at least 3 stones so an achievement he is joining . We have been eating low carbs high fat . He is enjoying so m I but I am finding the fat content a little over the top is this normal that your body will self regulate . Also struggling still with the concept you can eat so much fat cheese Greek yoghurt keep thinking we cannot possibly do this and what about our arteries getting clogged up . Read on diet dr blood results and they did not seem to alter a great deal and people lost weight . This way of eating certainly needs some getting used to . Hope the scales report good news on Tuesday more importantly that pair of shorts which I cannot get 1 leg in fit again lol .

Hi fatso1, it is very strange to be eating fat when all your life you have been told low fat this and low fat that.

Well let me tell you what’s happened to me, I started this may 17th/18th, me like you was thinking this can’t be right don’t get me wrong I don’t have gallons of fat. I eat loads of vegetables cooked in butter or coconut oil which I love.

I love how I’m eating now. For breakfast I may have a fry up or two tablespoons of full fat Greek yogurt with a few mixed berries.

Tonight I’m having belly pork and loads of vegetables with it.

I have 2 cream coffees a day one in the morning when I get up when I’ve had that I’m not hungry for maybe a few hour, then I will take my first meal.

Up to now I’m 1lb off 2 stone yes it sounds crazy dont it but it’s true it really does work.

Good luck🌸

Well done menu sounds delicious. This way of eating feels so rebellious but Really seems to make sense . At the moment not missing carbs apart from bananas and other fruits look forward to the berries with Greek yoghurt . 2 stones off is amazing what did you eat before the plan ?

in reply to Betsboop

Full carbs I was a bread monster, loved mash potato, never had any fats unless they were low fats, ice cream, tons of fruit I believed fruit was the best thing I probably had 3 types of fruit a day thinking well there good for me.

But now I no I was just piling on the lbs plus just making my sugars go up and up.

When is your weigh in mine is on a Monday and I really look forward to it.🌸

You really need to do more research if you think fat will 'clog your arteries'.

google.com/search?q=fat+wil...

Check out Dr. Ken Berry's latest post on youtube.

Thankyou for your comment Mike . After being constantly told by doctors media dieticians for 60 yrs that fat is problematic , even the NHS healthy eating plans it is very difficult to believe any information. Why should one piece of research be any more correct than and another piece ? People advocate all sorts of diets I was bought up with opinion that the less you ate and the more you exercise the better . A vein that ran through was cut down on bread and potatoes and sugar . Along side that eat fat reduced products . This concept is a brand new concept . I guess the proof is in the pudding .

It’s true that it is a hard mind shift to make given what we’ve been told for so long. I think you will be pleased to know that there are many people on this site and in case studies on sites like dietdictor.com who have not only lost significant amounts of weight using this lifestyle but have also reduced or been able to safely stop various medications and have successfully reversed health complications such as IBS, arthritis, high blood pressure and diabetes. As the body of evidence increases it will be easier for people to accept the truth of a real food lifestyle 😁 In the mean-time, just dive right in and give your body the chance to show you how much it appreciates your new way of eating. Everyone is different and you may not be able to eat as much fat as others. One of the site members here has a liking for drinking cream but that is not for everyone 😉 Take your time and enjoy the journey 👍😊

Yep I think you are so right dive in and see what happens . What I am finding is that I do not always want a lot of fat . I thought I would go mad after all these years of a fat famine which I did initially. Now I am enjoying cooking in butter and having cheese in omelettes not wedges of cheese . LoveGreek yoghurt but I do believe your appetite sort of balances itself out . Early days thanks for your comments

You don't need to eat "lots of fat". LCHF should read low carb healthy fat. You need healthy fat to help keep you full. What you are doing cooking with butter and cheese is spot on and enjoy the Greek yogurt. As suggested above have a look at dietdoctor website if you haven't already for lots of recipe ideas. Your appetite will balance out because you won't feel hungry. You might find you progress eventually to eating less often or intermittent fasting. As you are doing enjoy it.

Hi..I have found that my appetite has stabilised too and I am now into my second week of proper low carb. I don't need snacks at all. I also do not want to slather fat on everything. I am using olive oil or coconut oil for cooking, I eat a bit of cheese most days and some days I have berries and cream, but am wondering whether the cream is too much, so I might re-evaluate that.

Yes it does seem to level out . I was like a kid in a sweet shop but seem to have worked through that . I love my Greek yoghurt . Now the extra fat in cooking seems to satisfy the appetite . Still seems strange though I am enjoying the plan but still miss the vast amounts of fruit I used to eat and always have even as a child but that obviously did not help my metabolism . I am glad you are getting on ok well done . Cream is rather yummy lol

in reply to Betsboop

Yes, I relate to the kid in the sweet shop....the excitement at being able to have fats!! But as you say, that soon wears off! I don't miss fruit as I was never a massive consumer of it, in fact I used to feel guilty about not eating it enough. Another thing this diet releases me from!

Fatso1 - can understand why it is challenging to get one's head around how we have been so misled on diet for so many decades - nothing to do with science and evidence, everything to do with marketing. There are a number of books by different authors that go under the heading "Eat Fat, Get Thin". One of the early books I read was the late Barry Groves' book Eat Fat, Get Thin. It is about changing our metabolism to enable the body to use fat as our primary source of fuel and not sugar, provided by the carbs in our diet.

There is a lovely series of "Unlearn Rethink" infographics. One has a statement from Gary Fettke stating: "Spill Butter on the Floor - SLIP; Spill Fruit Juice on the Floor - STICKY. Same goes for your arteries." This the link to that infographic: facebook.com/WelcomeToKetoC.... You can see them all using that link to photos. There are some real gems.

ha ... it is hard to get into the 'fat is good for you' mindset after so many years of indoctrination.

Just bear in mind that if your meals seem too greasy, that's your body telling you "no need, thanks, I've got enough here stored away and I'm busy burning through it". During the first week or two you do need to make a conscious effort to add fat (simply because you're not in the habit of doing so) but I've found that it very quickly becomes second nature.

Toad can you link to your heart disease post?

You are so right and cooing with fat definitely makes every thing taste good and is surprisingly very filling . Always used fry light cooking with butter a no no

Arteries getting clogged up - eating fat does not go this. It’s all a con. The Awful Toad has written a post about this and I hope he will link here. Gary Taube’s book, Good Calories Bad Calories explains in huge detail why it’s a con, & how the heart disease ‘industry’ came to mislead us. Also Dr Asseem Malholtra is the heart disease consultant to look out for (via Google) who is leading the charge in the UK & NHS over sugar & carbs causing heart disease, not eating saturated fat.

I have read this morning that Boris is launching an anti obesity drive as obesity can make covid symptoms worse if you are unfortunate to contract it. I hope he listens to this and doesn't continue with the Eatwell plate nonsense. Apparently gastric band surgery is high on the list of options ☹️.

in reply to Gizmocat

At least there’s openness about the risk factor of obesity, but honestly. Gastric band surgery?

Its a small column on the front of the Sunday times. I can't get the whole article as you need a subscription to access it! It says family exercise and healthy eating programmes will also be promoted so I hope the healthy eating is LCHF not a continuation of the low fat advice they like so much. I guess bariatric surgery might be helpful for some but I hope it's a last resort. The NHS doesn't need a queue of a people for gastric bands especially as they are still coping with covid cases.

in reply to Gizmocat

I am considering writing to my MP to ask the department of health for their view on eat well versus LCHF. I used to be a civil servant & Gov depts have to give much more considered replies to MPs than to members of the public. I could refer to Matt Hancock’s own weight loss via LCHF....
