Hi there,
firstly I assume you've already done this - consult your GP and lets sort out that under active thyroid. always remember that medication is only part of the solution so never rely too much on it.
remember one thing that we all have to work at something to get something out of this, whether it career, or your own well being. we can all help you out by giving you advice but you need to be the one to make that step to get better.
secondly, try to encourage yourself step by step to step to get out of the house and do some sort of activity. understandably, this won't be easy since you suffer from tiredness and depression but step at a time and slowly the change will become natural and normal to you.
if you can dress up, put your shoes on then that's great, go for a walk, keep doing this and fight that tiredness and any mental barriers that are stopping you from doing this. after that, change of clothes and step out with jogging trainers and do a jog. go around a small block and slowly push yourself to go further, do this over a space of few weeks. if yu can go for a walk everyday then that's great, keep it up! this will clear up the stress hormones, keep your mind active, flush your body of unwanted fluids and get some adrenaline in your blood flow.
Depression does the one thing of slowly killing off your brain cells in turn reducing brain activity and forgetfulness almost making you feel idle, and upsetting hormone levels, that's one of the reasons why you feel tired and may not feel like doing much. reducing that stress hormone level will help to calm the mind, reduce the effects of depression and exercise helps the body recycle itself and build new cells.
couple this with counselling and CBT, if needed and the rest is all about teaching yourself to be active and staying that way. eat well and drink plenty of fluids and just remember that you're the enabler and you can do this, trust me.
I'm saying all of this from my own personal experience of fighting severe depression and I would say that 95% is done with but the rest is all about giving myself CBT therapy to adjust my reaction to situations. that last 5% i know will be difficult but where there's will there's a way.
apply the same principles to any interests or hobbies and remember fight that mental barrier if it tries to stop you by encouraging yourself to push forward. when you hit a problem don't let it take you down, walk away, teach yourself to find a solution and then pick up where you left off.
sorry for waffling on but I hope this helps.
all the best!
