Platelets woop woop

After a 2 week bacterial infection platelets up 82 woop woop (34 ) my consultant asked what had I done differently I got ill next vampire visit this week will let you know outcome my immune system on a plus must be OK fighting infection to bring my platelets up ... Thoughts

I'm the same as soon as I'm ill my body has to fight then my platelets go up every time.

Lynwoodley cannot win really can you we have to laugh : ) you get ill you feel awful you have low platelets you feel awful.

I'm the same. If I have an infection my platelets go up a bit but if I get a viral illness they drop drastically. My haematologist says that it's unusual as infections also tend to cause a drop in platelets. It makes me wonder if my immune system leaves the platelets alone when it's busy fighting an infection. He says it's an interesting theory 😊. It would be interesting to see how many of us have a similar experience.

Janran good to our immune system is on our side very interesting illness itp .

I totally agree I have said I think my platelets are lazy they only work when I'm ill and they need to attack lol

Ohh, my doctor had told, when we get infection, our immune system will be overactive and they destroy everything faster so platelets also goes down.!! I havent got Bacterial infection yet but when whenever am sick with cold or fever, my platelets go worse and could see blood spots everywhere and nose bleeding gets worse.

ITPAffecty, really interesting how symptoms differ my consultant asked what i had done different i mentioned I was ill I assumed bacterial do not know for sure as I had flu like symptom's due to fact when it was viral platelets dropped considerably when I had contacted shingles all very confusing and such different symptons thank you for the reply ... Or maybe I am in remission , probably not I was ill

Esher66 myself I think your immune system is too busy fighting infection.
