Hi Vicky. Sadly you can develop ITP at any age for what may appear no apparent reason. Very often due to a viral infection or on occasions, ITP can be secondary to another condition. It can disappear as quickly as it comes, or it can linger for years. The Good news is, you can live a normal life with it and the mortality rate is extremely low. Providing you are not a bleeder, take care with your activities, very often medication is not required even with low platelet counts, but you must be guided by your consultant.

Good luck and get on with your life is the best advice and do take the survey. Very important for all ITP patients to provide responses to this survey.
