Worried and confused

Went to ER. Blood poison, low platelet. Now it's 4th day in hospital for IV antibiotics. I was diagnosed last July with enlarged spleen. No treatment prescribed then. How is blood poison, enlarged spleen and low platelet count related and what would treatment be?
