I’m 45, female and I’ve diagnosed with ITP since 16 years ago. Since then doctors tried different treatment including surgery to remove my spleen 14 years ago.
A month ago my platelet's count fell to 7000. My doctor said they discovered I also have a condition called Antiphospholipid Antibodies. I’m currently under emergency treatment and hospitalized. They did transfusions of platelet concentrates first but doctors said it could boost my platelet's count temporary.
Now I'm hospitalized for treatment. Doctors tried different medications to boost platelet. My platelet’s count increased to 12000 but it was temporary. I’ve taken my first injection of Rituximab (Zytux) two days and doctors hoped it can boost my platelet count, but it couldn’t. My Platelet count today was 3000 that is to low. I was wondering if someone here is familiar with condition like me? Is there a treatment for people like me that have ITP and Antiphospholipid Antibodies conditions together?

My daughter was diagnosed with the same condition. She was for 1 month on rituximab and after her platlets 45ooo doctor dos not want her number go up ve
Thank you so much for your reply, It gives me hope . My Platelet fell to 1000 two days ago, doctors did the transfusion of Platelet concentrates to boost my platelet . They still want to keep me on treatment with rituximab. And also they want to start the Nplate for me today . I've asked doctors if it's a good idea to be on both medications (Nplate and Rituximab) at the same time. They said there is no issue but their answer couldn't convince me.
Hi, I have had ITP now for almost 30 years. My platelet counts have been up and down. The lowest was about 5. At those times the most helpful treatment for me was IVIb.. That is intervein Immunol globulin. It was most effective when combined with a short term dose of prednisone 5 to 10 days. Your specialist will probably know about this treatment.
Is Promacta / Revolude available where you live? That usually stabilizes platelets around 50k. Unlike Nplate which can spike platelets way higher, it seems to me Revolade should not increase your risk. Other things that may work are corticosteroids, IVIG (intravenous globulin) and Rituximab. Everything beside Nplate should be okay to try even with antiphospholipid antibodies.
