Hi, I'm currently having dengue fever. But still got a few assignments to rush, so maybe need to do until overnight. In this case, I want to ask does lacking of sleep cause the platelet count dropping?

Does lacking of sleep cause the platelet count dropping?
You know what? I wonder the same thing. I can only tell you of my experience. During the winter months, I sleep late as I do not start work until noon. During those months my platelet counts are the best for me. During the summer months, I automatically just wake up early and my platelet counts are at their worst. I have not asked my doctor about this, but I would think sleep has some effect. It is also harder for me to tell, because I have lupus and there are days I have major fatigue from that; so it is difficult for me to point to whether it is less sleep or lupus fatigue that decreases my platelets, or neither!
As far as my experience, I feel lack of sleep increases body heat. I feel whatever increases body heat, whether food items, workout, lack of sleep.. etc does influences platelets and count fluctuates. Atleast thats what I experience.
Yes it does! Platelets are generated from megakaryocytes which are regenerated during REM cycles of sleep. One reason I had low platelets a lot was because I had sleep apnea and was not getting the proper replenishment of platelets I needed! Get at least 8hours if you can, or if you nap make sure it is at least 1hr30min cycles!
