Steroids are often prescribed for pregnant women with ITP when counts are low. I had it for 4 months whilst pregnant. Make sure sugar leves and blood pressure l are monitored which would be usual with pregnancy anyway. ITP is different in everybody sometimes it can affect the baby and sometimes not. Your heamo and ob/gyn team will be keeping a close eye on everything and be prepared I am sure. If bub is born with low platelets they can help bub too. Good luck

I had low platelets whilst pregnant, which turned into ITP, and I still have it 20 years on. My lad was born prem with a count of 15, given IVIG, and has had no problems since. He is now 20 and at uni!
