recently diagnosed with ITP

I was recently diagnosed with ITP. Taking 1.5mg prednisone and 100mg Imuran. I was misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Lyme, and Neurosicticsircosis before. I am not sure we got the right disease now, but I will try the treatment and see if we finally got it. I am afraid it might be Leukemia.

ITP is all about Platelet count - you do not mention,when you are back for more blood tests; Leukemia is about White blood cells (I am not a Doctor; ok) ITP is Platelets and your medication is in keeping with raising that count. Ask more questions AND worry less, as stress will make you feel worse.

Hi Luisa, Try not to worry, the doctors will find out for definite but prednisolone is the normal medication given at first to try and bring the platelet count up. This is the main symptom of ITP. ITP is treatable and can be controlled and monitored. They may need to do further tests and should it be Leukaemia they will let you know. Hope you have a firm diagnosis soon

I believe itp is a diagnosis made when any other reason for low platelets has been eliminated. There is no specific test for itp. Your fear of leukaemia can be diagnosed by having a bone liver biopsy.

A bone marrow biopsy not bone liver
