I developed itp during pregnancy with count >80,000. I also had protein in my urine which the docs say is not related. I think they are.

A year after my son was born my platelets have dropped down to 4000 and I was placed on prednisone. My body responds well to this but my doc is pushing for this ivig. Should I take it if the prednisone is working.

Ivig usually gives only a short term response and can have some harsh side effects of its own during and after infusions. It is also expensive .If you feel you can tolerate the prednisone then I would go with that. Bare in mind long term it has its own issues.

Thanks so much. I was reading about the ivig and was skeptical. My body responds really well to the prednisone. I'm going to get a second opinion so I will let you know what they say. I also have protein in my urine. Have either of you had that.

My platelets were fine until I received a tetanus booster. Would that cause me to suddenly have a drop in my platelet count.
