Hiya,I was in a coma in jan-march for mixed overdose, CLABSI, cellulitis, gangrene to left thigh, sepsis, multi organ failure, end stage renal failure/on diyalsis, ventilation associated pneumonia and the list goes on.

I came out of the hospital on 5th may with a walking frame and still 0 ability to even wash myself.

I came out with 90% of no feeling in my left leg due to severe surgical debridement to get rid of the dead infected tissue. My outlook on life was very very bleak.

So, 11 months on I am back to driving, walking, talking, eating normally. My left leg has gained around 60% of feeling back.

I had a critical care appointment earlier in the month and the ICU therapist said I had a severe brachial plexus injury and they had taken a major nerve out of my leg.

I'm left in agony each and every day with my experience but it doesn't stop me carrying on.

I am still very anxious about everything and my moods are all over the place still.

I have a degree of brain injury however I am just trying to get onto life.

People don't understand that being able bodied to then being disabled is very very hard indeed.

I'm getting constant skin infections in my left leg. My wound (12 cm from one side of my leg to the other) has only just closed up.

I struggle with my appearance as I had to have my very long hair cut to almost nothing due to the severe matting and scars all over my neck from Tracy/ tesio line / other central lines.

Overall I am ok, back to about 50% of normal just hoping everything gets there in the end

Wow, Jones210519, that's a tough and humbling summary of what you've been through and are continuing to go through. It's hard, hard, hard recovering from these experiences but it sounds as though you are getting there. I found every few months I could look back and see the improvements that I'd made but remember that day-to-day it felt like I was not getting anywhere. Anyway, keep going and report back if you want to.

Not what you're looking for?
