I have been out of I U for eighteen months now. I seem to pick up every respiratory bug or virus that goes around now. Is this a common experience? Are our immune systems compromised to such a degree that we have to reestablish resistance to everything out there?
immune system: I have been out of I U for eighteen... - ICUsteps
immune system
hi NSMOD - this has been the first six months since April 2016 that I haven’t picked a serious infection.
Anecdotally, I spoken to loads who’ve experienced the same endless infections. I take Vit b12, C & D & magnesium sulphate - all have helped in some way.
Wishing you a healthier 2023 💙
seasons greetings. That’s life as they say. I had a compromised immune system before ICU and it’s no better. You just have to take advantage of all vaccines that are available so that if you do catch something it’s not as bad as it might be. Just don’t forget that the vaccine has to be the right one for you - not live.
Yes, I totally agree. Came out of ICU 21 months ago, and get everything going in the way of respiratory viruses and infections.
Have just got over a horrible double-whammy of covid (which nearly killed me 2 years ago) and a bacterial chest infection.
All the best for 2023, and roll on spring!
Yes, my employers occupational health report specifically says I will be more prone to infections, and to allow for this. Agree re comments about vitamins, you may need to watch how much magnesium you can tolerate.
I was also like that but I was quickly given a steroid inhaler as I couldn't risk any further damage to my lungs. I also craved foods like tomatoes, berries, chicken, tuna so clean foods.
