Skin Sensitivity After ICU

Hi Everyone one. Q: since coming out of ICU last year my skin is definitely more susceptible to burning in the sun than it’s ever been and I was blonde and have fair skin. But now it only seems to take 5 mins or less to get the starting of sunburn? Anyone else?

regards

BigH

because of my CLL & subsequent treatment, I have 10x greater chance of skin cancer, so I stay out of sun mostly.

If it helps, I’m more sensitive to everything, loud noise, bright light, allergies, hay fever, more susceptible to colds & infection, more susceptible to cuts going septic - you name it …..

I agree. I've always been overly pale and suncream was always my friend but I only have to sit out in the sun now and I feel a burning right away. Factor 50 everytime without fail. However I've also noticed I have issues with temperature regulation. It could be a cool but warm night and I'd be shivering cold. There's no happy medium.

This happened to me but it was the because of the anti fungal medication I was put on from a fungal infection that I caught in the hospital while in the ICU. I’m still dealing with it three years later.

Hi Dream Warrior.

Thanks for replying. I’ll have to get my medical note from when I was in ICU. Funny you use that tag. When I was in ICU a male nurse or might have been my delirium I’m still not sure, but he cam over to me one night ? And said do you want to be a Worrier or a Warrior loudly, I said Warrior. Never forget that. But no one seems to know who he was ? Delirium? Real?

Yes, BigH63 this has been a problem for me to as well after long time in ventilator in ICU. I also have had scin problems, rash on the face, a lot on the forehead and around the nose / cheeks. Never had anything like it before i got sick (now 18 months ago). Lot of red spots, which come and go, the same can flare up if I sit in the sun. I have relatively light skin, but tolerate a lot of sun, and get tan quickly. It's terribly distressing and it feels limiting, and occasionally it itches.

Thank you Ellipirells. Interesting to know and I feel for you. I also am fair skinned blonde hair but salt and pepper now lol, I always tanned easily and went a lovely beach boy golden tan. But I only have to sit in moderate sun and I can feel it bite. Interesting what Dereham Warrior said about the fungal medication.

Good luck for the future.
