71 year old dad in ICU on Ventilator for 30 plus days now, they took him off the drug Midazalom 5 days ago. He is not responding at all!!

My 71 year old dad goes to hospital via ambulance, they say he has covid, they put him on a ventilator and put him on Midazalom without me knowing. He has been in a coma state state 30 days now! We had him taken off the Midazalom 5 days ago and he hasn't woke up! No response at all!!

I'm sorry to hear that your dad has been so poorly. I have no exact experience similar to yours but I have heard that many patients with Covid can take a long time to wake up after being sedated. Everybody is different and will come round at different speeds. I hope things begin to improve soon x

I’m so sorry to hear what happened to your dad. I came to this website to seek info when my bil was in coma and he had the same situation. He would t wake up from sedation. He took more time than expected from the doctors. Everyone has their own timing. I think my bil woke up 14 days after they had stopped the sedation. Anyway. I will be praying for your dad.

We are experiencing something similar they have had ct to check and rule out and spell of dialysis to remove excess toxins but every time they reduce sedation my mum becomes extremely agitated and needs re sedating/ but they feel she has some cerebral issue , so heartbreaking and we cant see her
