After 9.5 long months as an inpatient, my mother has been decannulated and discharged home! It has been about 3 days and she is doing fairly well. I cannot thank god enough for giving her a second chance at life, the strength to be patient through this process, and bringing my her back home. She is still weak from being hospitalized for so many months, but has been walking a little more now. She does get very exhausted when she walks and it takes her a bit to catch her breath, but with time, we are hopeful that she will continue to get better.
Thank you everyone for the support that I have received through here. Hearing about everyone's experiences made me feel less lonely and like I was not going through it by myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It is wonderful news that your Mum is home. What a strong lady she is to have recovered from very long stay in ICU and what a wonderful supportive family she has. Wishing you all the very best.
That is wonderful but don’t be frustrated or depressed at how long recovery takes. It can be a very very long process.I am six months down the line and still get unbearably frustrated sometimes
