Vitamin D supplements

Feb 2019 I was in ICU. I am 74 and have Asthma, Clinical Depression, Heart Failure, Hayfever, IHD, Osteoarthritis, PTSD. I've received a letter and an email from Matt Hancock, DHSC.Clinically.Extremely.Vulnerable@notifications.service.gov.uk advising to take a supplement of Vitamin D every day. When I asked the GP for a prescription they said "We do not prescribe Vitamin D supplements. Please buy these over the over the counter if you would like to take them".

So the DHSC tells you to take them, the GP says it's up to me. Who's right?

While I accept the are not all that expensive, being on a State Pension and Pension Credit I am already struggling to make ends meet.

From what I understand for those who are ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’, a supply will be sent to you in January - I’m not sure how long the supply is for.

Not what you're looking for?
