Good Morning,
On a positive note I picked up my Dad yesterday from hospital and he is now home. He is doing really well, tired but happy to be home. He had a cardiac arrest at work on the 24th June, he was airlifted to the local hospital and then airlifted to a city hospital that evening. He was in ICU for two weeks and initially got a chest infection, the had to put a tracheostomy in place to manage to reduce his sedation levels. When his sedation were reduced, he still wasn’t responding. They then moved him to high dependency he was sent for more CT scans, couldn’t manage to get a full MRI as he was too agitated. They informed us that there was more than likely brain injury and he may be in a care home, this was only 3 weeks ago. They then found that he seemed to have another infection, which they then treated with antibiotics which brought him around. After that his recovery started to move very quickly. He is now walking unaided and has a full memory up to just couple of days before, his humour hasn’t changed. He came home last night and is delighted off his own bed.
I know it is all terrifying and everyone journey is so different but things can change. We’ve been told how fortunate he is to be recovering like this and we are very aware this could of been a completely different story.
Thank you for all the support.
Becca
