So after what has been a very long 99 days, my dad has finally come home!๐๐๐
I am so proud of him he has fought this dreadful covid virus, 70 days in ICU and then another 29 in a rehab ward, he is still weak and it's a long journey ahead but he is home and I am just so happy to have him back...something that at many times we didn't think would be possible.
Don't lose hope, if your loved ones are fighting, you need to stay strong and keep faith in them๐โค

Finally after a month heโs put on half a kilo !!! He is getting stronger physically everyday but still need to push on appetite as he hasnโt got much of one ?! When the doctors tell you itโs going to be a long road they are not kidding ! But Iโm not whinging Iโm so very very grateful that I was lucky and have him home , and very grateful to this site that has got so many of us through the dark days , Iโm no longer going to say to anyone I wish them a speedy recovery , now Iโm going to say how lucky we all are that have relatives back , and however long it takes enjoy the time weโve been given
That is absolutely brilliant / Iโm made up for you. Have a great rest of weekend. Hope you all sleep ok tonight๐
And you are not on your own - there is help beyond discharge - there are people on this forum who have sampled some of the help and found it really beneficial but recovery & rehabilitation is exhausting ( for everyone)
Because of lockdown we moved everything that we do to virtual platforms - as we come out of lockdown, we realise that much of what we do can stay on line.
We have a regular weekly drop-in meeting, a separate relative & friends drop-in meeting weekly, 2 x exercise sessions & 2 x yoga
Please check out and share our details to any who might be helped. We are a charity of volunteers made up of expatients, relatives & NHS staff.
๐ - itโs been a good week for all of us then - 3wks ago my leukaemia biopsied as having transformed into Richters, which has a very poor prognosis, PET scan a week ago confirmed no such transformation - pretty happy ๐
The most wonderful news! My husband has been home around 10 days now after 61 days ventilator during which time we went in to say goodbye, 80 days in ICU and 94 in hospital. Where there is life there is hope. X
Tough, he is incredibly weak and tired and have lots of challenges, back and for to renal clinic to see if his kidneys recover, two finger amputations on Friday (thumbs to be done in a few months), low blood pressure preventing him standing and walking to name but a few! He will get there, it will take time but he will get there xx
