Hi i just discovered this site and figured I'd share my story. My father caught this virus late March. He was hospitalized April 2nd since he had shortness of breath. He was treated with some antibiotics and steroids. They also tried hydroxychlorequine.

He was getting oxygen support and was improving slowly. After 3 weeks he was discharged and sent home with oxygen support.

We thought it was over but 2 weeks into recovery he started coughing more. He started spiking low grade fevers. Then one night his oxygen saturation plummeted from 90-92 to 52-60 from coughing. He called the ambulance and they took him once again.

They put him on high flow nasal cannula and he was ok the 1st night. Next day his oxygen started going down again and they tried bipap. In a few hours it decreased even further and they had no choice but to put him on the vent.

I thought it was over since I read all bad things about survival rates on the vent.. but he's been fighting for 4 weeks now with this vent..

They let us visit him since they thought he was not going to make it. He has multi organ failure , his heart stopped once and they brought him back. His kidneys failed him and they put him on continuous dialysis. So far they were able to wean off some vasopressors, he was on 3 at one point but now on 1 (levophed).

Right now they are trying wean off then sedation so he can start to wake up. He has the same problem I read from other stories. Gets agitated and heart rate goes up.

He was hypothermic before (90-94) but now spiking fevers these past 2 days (99.5-102

Any questions let me know ill share what I know. Thank you all for sharing
