Hi Is your Mum on a ventilator? If not it could be she isn’t critical enough, also I have read that they are trying patients prone (on stomachs) using CPAP instead of putting straight on a ventilator as there are high risks to being on one. If she is they don’t tend to do a tracheotomy here until around 2/3 weeks on a ventilator because they want to see if they can be weaned first. They also need the oxygen requirements to be quite low as it increases when the tracheotomy is done for a while (they have to low flat and also tend to inhale blood). So there are certain requirements, they don’t do it for all patients just those who are stable but need longer for their bodies to recover. Hope you find out soon what the plan is x

Hi All

My Mom is on vent from last 5 weeks

CPAP they don’t use here

Waiting as she still has virus in lungs as she is + and her body is taking time to fight against this disease very difficult situation

Hi Avaco

Sorry to hear that. The consultant told me that the first thing they needed to do is to put my husband on ventilator for his lung to heal. They also said that it will take 6 weeks + for the lung to heal from the covid 19. Keep the hope it is a long way but we have seen a lot of people pull through.

Hello

He is still not making progress. They've tried to wean him off the ventilator but it is hard. Infections still present. Very hard time
