Hi

My son was assaulted last week and has been in an induced coma since to present.- I am extremely nervous when (god willing) what to expect when he comes out of this what condition he will be and my head goes through so many scenarios which are scary- Also what he will be going through inside himself and how i can help him

Thanks

I am so sorry you and your son are going through this. It is a very difficult time waiting for him to wake up. It will reassure him to know you are there by talking to him. My brother was in an induced coma. It was a traumatic time for us his family not knowing when he would wake up and how he would be. We were advised to remain hopeful and that is good advice. I will send you a link to induced coma to help you understand. I am thinking of you and your family and wishing you all the best for your sons recovery.

Hi was in that same position last year .

Also victim of assault and placed in induced coma . Can say I obviously made it , but life changing and still coming to terms with it all . I have no recollections of the assault but the affects of being in icu and the memories of that time are still with me one year on .

I do so hope he comes through and he recovers , you don’t say what his injuries are but mine were all facial (had a facial reconstruction) and a bleed on my brain .

I am being helped by an organisation /charity that are brilliant and have been there for me all the way ,

As to what he’s going through at present I can only say for me it was the most confusing and surreal experience .

Try to speak to staff who may have details of organisations that help with this .

I’ve been brief but will endeavour to answer all your questions if you have any ,

Can you give me details of his assault and what type of injury ? I have met many people on my journey who have helped and will put in you touch and give you details . Praying he comes through and sending my best wishes .
