Can we get ARDS attack while hospitallised. My father was hospitalized for pnemonia and H1n1 after 24hrs of hospitalization he developed ARdS

I’m not sure I understand your question- I developed severe ARDS after fight flu, double pneumonia, septic shock & MOF for two weeks. ECMO, I believe is the usual treatment for ARDS. I was too sick to move. Eventually, I left ICU after 3 months

ARDS develops in patients who are critically ill, it is something seen mainly on ICU where the lungs get very stiff, boggy and difficult to ventilate- they used to call it Shock lung- as they thought it was caused by septic shock.
