Tbi - ICU for 1 week

Hey!

I'm 22years old and I was involved in a car accident 2 months ago and suffered many injuries. The injury I am most concerned about is the Subarachnoid hemorrhage. I have been discharged from hospital (after being kept in for 10 days) but have had double vision since the accident. If I shut either eye I can see normal (single). It's only when I open both eyes I see double. The opthamologist has checked my eyes and said they both look healthy. I was told to wait 6 months until my eyes should be reviewed. I'm am so scared this double vision will be permanent. Please can anyone advise me if so.

Thank you so much xx

Hi, I cannot speak from experience but I do have a divergent squint (from birth) which I control. If I relax my muscle and my eye wanders outwards, I see double vision but if I close one eye then the double vision goes away. I wonder if it might be related? I really hope someone in a similar situation can shed some light. Sorry if it was unhelpful but just extremely similar to my squint.

Hey!

Thank you so much for your reply. That's great that you can control it! I think mine may be due to brain swelling. Let's hope someone with a similar experience can advise.

I've had a quick read up on it for you (I'm sure you have as well) and it is under 'temporary' due to head trauma. I really hope it clears up soon and hopefully this reply brings your post up again. If you're able to, get a second opinion with another ophthalmologist. I've got my fingers crossed for you and wishing you a speedy recovery xx

Hey,

I really appreciate you doing some research for me! Yes I'm going to go for a few more tests today to see if there is anything I can use as a temporary solution to help me through recovery.

Once again thank you so much for your kind words. I wish you all the best!

Sorry Lucy! I saw this then got pulled away by my 10 month old and forgot to send this 😓. This is the website:

medicalnewstoday.com/articl...

And it definitely refers to the double vision as temporary. Xx

Aw no need to apologise.

That's great :) thanks for the link.

You have been great help!

Let's hope this double vision improves over time! I guess it's still early doors for me! Time is the greatest healer hay!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
