warfarin and fibro

I tested my inr today because I was manic yesterday and did too much and as I suspected it was too high, yet I feel totally addleheaded, so suspect the warfarin helps the Hughes 'fog' but not the fibro 'fog'. Does that make sense?

Hi caroline it makes perfect sense and yes waferin can help the hughes fog re the fibro I found my plaquinal helps that.

I agree with Paddy, found my anticoag has helped with my APS fog but the fibro fog (slightly different) is still around at times. Still waiting for the Plaquenil to kick in!

Thanks both of you - very reassuring. Unfortunately I am allergic to Plaquenil but have been on Mepacrine for 10yrs; don't think it is helping much any more so may ask to try a period without it. I have, as suggested, upped my dosage of amitriptyline from 5mg to 7.5mg which has really helped with the pain but is doping me up too much and making me even more fog bound! So going to go back to the lower dose and see what happens. Trouble is, of course, that every time I alter the medication it affects my inr, so am doubly thankful that I am able to self test.

Amitriptyline is renowned for its hang over effects. You may do better with Lyrica (Pregabalin). Many people find that it helps with pain and sleep without the doping that you get with the older tricyclics.

Forgot to mention that Pregabalin is one of the FDA approved drugs for FM in the USA. You could also try Duloxetine or if you are in the US Malnacipran (Savella) as all are FDA approved but Malnacipran is not available in the UK but is in Europe.

For a Dopamine Agonist try Pramiprexole.

The consultant I saw three weeks ago suggested Duloxetine if I couldn't cope with a larger dose of Amitriptyline. Letter should be with GP by now so I am going to see him to ask if I can try it. Didn't take any amitriptlyine tonight and then will go back to 5mg so I can stay awake over Christmas!!! Just hope the pain doesn't come back with a vengeance.
