I ve just reviewed my life insurance from 2006 and found i am not covered HELP?
Is it still possible to get Life insu... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Is it still possible to get Life insurance with critcal illness cover even if you have APS but have had a stroke?
Hi Clare, good question. I had heard Liverpol Victoria were good, but to be honest I never explored, just too dispondant. Sadly we are the best thing an insurance group can have in today's greed driven society...high premium and a million get out clauses for paying up, they love us, But that doesn;t help you and I, or any of us. So I am interested to hear of any that buck the trend too. Hope you are feeling ok. x
Hi Clare,
I must admit i have to agree with Andrew it is a no on most fronts or if you have a fortune you can get insurance sorry but if anyone has found one i would be intrested as well
oh thats a kick in the teeth not having a good day written off by the life cover people and boots giving me the run around again.
There appears to be so much more attached to hughes than first appears and what make it even harder is i feel just fine general but i have to say i am starting to run out of postive energy
I will keep looking and post if i get anywhere

Clare - my hubby is in this line of work. He says did you already have the insurance before you were dx with APS or are you trying to take it out now?
If you were up front about your illnesses when you took out he policy, you should still be covered.
I had a similar problem many years ago when trying to get travel insurance, most of them said no way, but I contacted Lupus UK and they recommended one. I had to do a telephone screening with an adviser about all my illnesses and medications and state that my doctor had said I was fit to travel. The premium was very reasonable.
Did y know that most banks will offer you a free personal financial adviser, who could suggest a life insurance product, however it is very important to not try to hide things as they have ways of not paying out.
I was think about this and i know Kate for HSF has some dealing with Insurance compnaies and Hughes now i am not sure if it was Holiday or other insurances but will email her to ask she is on Honeymoon at the moment so will get a response when she is back.

There are three scenarios:- 1. If you took your policy out in 2006 and you were already dx with Hughes then you should have declared it to the ins company who then decide according to their criteria wether or not to cover you or not and if not they would have added it as an exclusion under the policy to show they would not cover you. 2. If you did not declare it but were already dx then if you try to claim they will deny the claim on non disclosure. 3. If you already have your policy and then got a dx of Hughes they should cover unless the policy states they will not cover certain types of medical conditions.
If you fall in the latter you need to get independent advice as to what constitutes the medical conditions they state and if Hughes could be classified as one of those. If you call your insurance company they will more than likely just try and tell you it does which is why I mentioned independent!
All this coming from my other half who says its difficult to comment without seeing the policy but hope that helps.
I have read the above about life insurance. My wife sue has been refused life cover because in the letter it says she has Hughes Syndrome no other reason given.has anyone had any luck in getting life cover recently if so with who please
