Hi, at last I am on blood thinners, since May last year. As many know that I have been on the Hughes site since 2007, as I'd had 3 severe cardiovascular lifechanging events, and many other probs. Being in north Queensland or further south nothing was being done till I researched, finding APS with positive tests, but took till start of 2010 finding a eye doctor here conversant with APS, who treated my eye, (was an eye stroke) and gave me referral I needed to see doctor at London Bridge Hospital mid 2010, with positive APS, and details of rheumatologist in Sydney. Plavix ( clopidogrel) was suggested by London as I have stomach ulcers, but had to push eye doc mid last year to put me on it. Having a colonoscopy/gastroscopy soon, so I was pleased that local hospital has arranged for me to have clexane at that time. Having had flight probs a few times, would prefer to have clexane for flights next.
Hi! Yes, lifelong Clexane injections as prescribed by haemotologist. Off to St. Thomas' in August, so they may change that? Adverse reaction to Warfarin.
I was diagnosed 17 years ago, after a heart attack while pregnant. I also have Lac, anticardiolipin antibodies, protein s&c deficiencies and lupus sle. I have been on warfarin/ coumadin since 1995 and will be on it for life. Right now I take 20mg daily...
Me too Coumadin (Sintrom) for life xx
Warfarin since late 70s and for life (bar a spell on heparin next week for an in patient procedure) target INR 3.8 to 4.0, usually achieved by for/five mg alternating but checked every other day.
Warfarin since 2002, target INR 3.8 - 4.2 but converted from Warfarin to Fragmin 15,000IU for the last 3 months to try to stop 'funny turns', which has been successful in dramatically reducing them.
Best wishes.
Dave
Aspirin, plaquenil and warfarin for life along with a host of other things
Put on warfarin in 1986 for a series of DVTs, which were then attributed to a high platelet count. The platelets dropped in the early 1990s, I was taken off warfarin and immediately began to have migraines, which became more and more intense until I had a stroke in 2000. Now I'm on warfarin for life and they'll have to pry my script bottle from my cold, dead hands!
Warfarin 2.5 mg daily for life.
Hi yes Warfarin for me normally around 7 - 8mg INR range 3 - 4 but upper end of - if INR drops below 3 then 15,000 of fragmin as well - all for life
Currently I manage with : One 325 mg apirin, 1 mg clonozapam (generic for Klonopin) 2x day to manage cerebral stroke damage (severe stuttering, severe tremor in right hand./arm, balance, bouts of confusion) 100 mic. Fentanyl 72 hour patch (duralgesic), Vicodin and medical marijuana as necessary for pain. Those are for life. CQ10, 300 mg. for muscle/bone pain (current trial), current trial of 25 mg Metroprolol (generic for Toprol XL) just began waking up with diastolic pressure in 3 digits. This upsets me because I am aware blood pressure can be mind controlled. I have succeeded before in bringing a high blood pressure down to normal, thereby eliminating a medication and was able to sustain it for two years through meditation. I'm having no success lately. I must be having some troubling dreams as I wake up and it is 168/126 or there abouts. I usually do my exercise regimen first thing in the morning before I get tired and so that I can move easier throughout the day. That generally brings my blood pressure to the high/normal range. But not so this time. Am working on bringing it into line and eliminating a medication.
