Yikes - i didn't know Rachel Horne was leaving the Royal Edinburgh - what a shame. Do you know where she's going? Sorry, can't help you on her replacement but please, please do let us know so we can pass on this info to other patients.

Kate - I think Dr Horne's name starts with an L so maybe different people. It is a shame though as she was the most informed member of staff about Hughes. She is off to Leeds.

Hi, Doc Horne's name is Lishel, she was my specialist until she recently moved to Leeds. She is an absolute marvel, and gave me hope with this. I will miss her, and hope her predecessor can have the same understanding of living with this as she did. A wonderful lady, and she shall be sorely missed at OPD1 in RIE

Mmm - is she a haematologist and could her name be Dr Elizabeth Helen Horn? I'm trying to track her down on Dr Foster as it's important for us to locate specialists throughout the UK.

Probably is - think she shortens the Elizabeth

Thanks for that :) I think we should be able to build up a directory of specialists throughout the UK from this community site. I will contact Dr Horn and see if I can find out exactly where she will be based and who is replacing her.

OK - I tracked down Dr Horn and her name is actually Lishel - we got there in the end! She had kindly replied with the following:

I am going to Leeds as the Haemophilia Director and my remit will be more on the side of haemorrhagic disorders rather than thrombotic problems. I am anticipating that I will have some form of strategic role on the thrombosis side but my clinical work with thrombosis will be limited. I don’t think I should remain on your directory at present, but will let you know if it would be appropriate in the future when I have settled in in Leeds. There is some reorganisation going on in the Dept here (the RiE) and at present there are new appointments to be made. I will ask my colleagues to let you know if anyone is appointed with a specific APS interest.
