I first went to my GP before x-mas with golfers elbow of my right arm, he said he would refer me to physio. Continued to see GP for different symptoms since then. saw him again and reminded him about physio referal and still not being seen. Checked with physio and no referal sent. Now have tennis elbow of left side and golfers on right, out come can not work so forced to take sick leave, still no physio, saw him again yesterday to ask again about referal. Won't give me analgesia as on warfarin and plaquinil, wants to wait for physio. Heamatologist locally adviced referal to rheumatologist, GP won't refer wants to wait for physio.
Can you see a pattern here?
I'm left in pain and unable to work, now getting me down.
Will be seeing work occupational health tomorrow for review as had 4 months off for heart problems and year long phased return afterwards, also have breathing problems that am under treatment for from the hospital.
Sorry to go on, Why won't doctor's listen to patients.

I have swelling on the inside of both elbows which to me looks like golfers elbow I have showed my doctor and physiotherapist both said they are not sure what it is so I will show the consultant in june.In the meantime I'm left in discomfort with pain when i try and sleep.
Beavers - write a letter to your GP's practise manager setting out all that you have said here ie times you have asked for referral but none has taken place etc. Ask when you are going to get one or are you going to be forced to write to the PCT for your referrals!
My guess is you will get a referral quite quickly!
Thanks Hughes Patient, phoned physio this morning, they have referal now but standard referal so 2-3 weeks waiting list. Phoned GP secretary and asked for urgent appointment referal to be sent as waited so long so far and now causing me to take time off, will wait and see how long this takes.
Sorry to hear about your pain and gp being difficult, as Hughes patient says write to practise manager.
Some Gp's knowledge is limited with regards to meds for Hughes. I take slow release Tramadol and Lyrica for pain relief along with warfarin and Plaquenil, plus other meds, I do have other conditions too. So Gp should be able to offer some pain relief while waiting for referral.
Occ health doctor said try to do less manual work, hard whgen a stroke nurse full time. Going to take week off sick to rest arms and see how long physio takes to get an appointment. The joys of aps xx
Before I was diagnosed with Hughes and Sjogrens, I suffered for two years with radial tunnel syndrome in both arms and then tendinitis and then tennis elbow. Acupuncture was the only thing that seemed to work, but it was a very slow healing process. When I was finally diagnosed and put on aspirin and plaquenil, I haven't had any of those problems since. Good luck!
Thanks, already on plaquenil, not working at present, have tried diclofenic but no good and plain paracetamol. Just have to wait for physio. Working as a stroke nurse doesn't help as lots of heavy moves to do in a shift and work full time. Take care
Hello, clexane, hydroxychloroquine and anti-inflamatories didn't stop the pain I had in my arms and legs, so dr added prednisone which made me feel invincible for around 9 months until pain all came back. But it might be worth speaking to dr to see if they think steriods could help you?
