Now I'm told that my INR has to be between 2-3

Hello

I was in Madrid last week to see my specialist in Hospital La Paz.

He told me that because I'm on warfarine and aspirin I should lower my INR to 2-3.

My Haematologist in the UK says I have to be on 3-4.

Any one of you are on Warfarine and aspirin? What is your target range?

Hi Dani,

I am at 3.5 as the risk of bleed is less to the risk of clot it is a fine balancing act.

Hi, my specialist at Princesa (Madrid) says the same about reducing the target as apparently they have done some recent research here (paper pending I believe) that demonstrates in general no major benefit going over 3 with warfarin. I'm not on asprin as well but made the switch from sintrom to warfarin last year.

In general I have found my team here far more cautious on everything compared to the UK.... who is your consultant at La Paz? Will ask another APSer who goes there what she has been told recently. Personally I have kept to making sure I am closer to 3 but don't need the closer to 4 that I needed on sintrom.

I'm on aspirin and warfarin and my target is 3.5 and I feel better around that, anything lower than 3 and I feel dreadful.

I think it's such an individual thing that there really is no correct answer, no one figure that is right for everyone.

But so very frustrating trying to get answers and to get to a point where we feel like we can function on a daily basis.

Thanks for all your comments. I will keep it on the safe side as I'm having extra anticoagulants I'll keep my INR on the safe side 2.5 - 3.5

Im on aspirin and warfrin my inr has to be between 2.5 to 3.5. Most of the time it is around 4. Only been on the aspirin three weeks and since then i feel alot worse. But did have three trips to A and E over easter weekend before they took my symptoms seriosly!
