working with aps
It’s very much an individual circumstance. I’m lucky, mostly, I don’t especially have any other symptoms, so feel normal on a day to day basis. However, in a role which normally includes a lot of time overseas our occupational health team have put some limitations on where I can go as they want a reasonable level of healthcare. 3 seizures last year ending up in hospital in Nigeria with severe concussion and needing some minor plastic surgery isn’t a good idea. Everyone keeps saying epilepsy and thinners aren’t a good mix (I know…..).
I’m working pretty much normally, although do make sure colleagues know what to do in the event of a seizure and particularly that I need to go to hospital in the event of any sign of injury or bad fall.
It has to be a decision based on your circumstances though, both how it impacts your health, but also what your job is and how you are able to do it. If you work for a larger employer, then bringing in occupational health is probably sensible.
