More spots
it looks to me like the might be splinter haemorrhage , but usually they are seen as more vertical and thin line- not a round spot. Like yours.
Sorry I’m not really helpful with my answer, but keep an eye out - make sure they are not happening else where on your body.
Splinter hemorrhage are tiny tiny capillaries microclotting then resulting in a little bleed under the nail
If it’s happening elsewhere as little dots, could be any number of platelet issues, other auto immune disorders, or even just APS causing a a flare and vessels getting inflamed. You would need to see your doctor right away for and Red, blue, purple “spotty/ dotty” appearances. Don’t wait for them to go away before you are seen, as your doctor ( preferably rheumatologist) could want one of the areas biopsied, if it’s on a patch on your body and it’s not exactly clear what it is.
(The exact kind of vascular inflammation will drive the decision on what medication to treat it with. )
Please keep in mind I’m putting this information to you that you very likely will not need!
Hi KellyInTexas
I get similar small purple, perfectly oval or round dark red/purplish bruises all over, but not more than one or two at a time. They are odd because they literally just pop up. The other day, one appeared on top of my thumb sometime during my drive to work. then the one on my fingernail sometime between buying a coffe and sitting down at my desk! I've had them on my toes too.
Rheumatologist has seen the pictures, but she didn't say anything. I have antiphospholipid antibodies and low (but not very low) platelets. She made notes but didn't make a comment.
They seem to be on the increase lately.
