I have some sort of movement Disorder and looking to go private as the waiting time with nhs is 1 year I just found out. I just don't know where the best place for me to go as I feel I need a doctor who understands movement disorder but also aps as I believe this is caused from the neurological side of aps. I'm in Wales but willing to travel anywhere in the UK.

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Queen Square, is the UK's largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital. It provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis, treatment and care of all conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nervous system and muscles.

If I were you, I would find out who the top neurologists work there. IMHO, make sure your neurologist works at a London (or other cities) teaching hospitals because anyone can set themselves up at Harley Streer or other London Clinics. If they are at a London teaching hospital, you know they are the best.

Hope this helps and I hope you will find relief soon.

With good wishes,

I don’t know if the FND specialists work privately (I do know their NHS waiting lists are very long). But I agree on Queen Square having neurologists recognising the APS-neurology link. I manage to have two there, one who looks after my epilepsy and one who looks after my CVST, both very much recognise the link with my APS.

In your local district hospital you are likely to have a neurologist who covers everything from Parkinsons through stroke to epilepsy and FND.

I don't think this is fnd I think it's aps related. I'm hoping to get a private appointment with one of the doctors from this hospital. Just need my gp to send a referral request. Was hoping to see professor kailash bhatia
