aps neurologist yorkshire?

Hi can anyone recommend a neurologist in Leeds who understands APS please?

I am under a haematologist already and rheumatologist but they want me to se a neuro and I dont want to go to Sheffield due to previously being refused care by them for seeing a doctor privately, who specialised in Aps, he gave APS as a diagnosis, they gave fibromyalgia, so they couldnt trat me. A neurologist, gastroenterologist and the rheumatologist all cancelled my future appointments. So I dont want to go back there and dont trust them.

Many thanks for any help,

Ally.

I go to the CTD clinic in Leeds Rheumatology (Chapel Allerton hosp. - Leeds is spread around several physical hospitals, I was having appointments at 5 of them at one point). This is Prof Emery's team (listed as an APS specialist, only actually seen him once in person though). They have kind of multi-disciplinary clinics and I have seen neurologists and a nephrologist in there, as well as the rheumys - they call other consultants in to see you in your appointment as/when required, and the consultants they use all have some interests in CTD and probably therefore APS, so the nephrologist I got to see there was on the ball on APS (although obviously mainly focused on its affects on kidneys).

I have ditched neurology and haematology and just see the ctd guys now having decided they were the most useful (still under haem for anti coagulation, and they are good on APS). However, they are very, very, busy, usually at least six months behind with "regular" appointments, and probably a year behind now. Take a good book or two if going there, you'll wait hours for your appointment and then it may take a couple of hours in there, but, in my opinion, it is worth it if you get to see multiple consultants from different specialities in a room all at once, rather than wait months for them to write letters to each other.

The neurologists I saw at LGI / stroke were all good, but the main consultant has moved on now. The neurologists I saw at the CTD clinic were also very good, but have since retired.

There was a "young stroke" specialist (can't remember name) working out of Seacroft (I think) who I was under at one point, only saw him in person a couple of times and didn't get on with him at all (don't think he liked me either) - but that is purely a personal thing. He _did_ know APS though (as you'd expect if specialising in "young stroke"), although I didn't always agree with him about my case. IF you are a stroke patient I can try and find his details, if not then my guess is he'd be the type of doctor who says "why are you seeing me" if he saw you at all - but that's just from my impression.

I think Dr Michael Martin is now gone (retired) from Jimmys - he may be still working privately at Spire.

I saw Michael Martin a couple of years ago and he said he was retiring and would not be available again.
