Safe INR testing

6 weeks ago I went to gp for INR tests. Gp rang and advised not to go in again for 6 weeks as it wasn't safe for me. Rang yesterday as I'm overdue. I've been dosing myself as advised. My GP has covid and 5 other members of staff have had or currently have. Told it's important to have the test. I'm shielding but have to go in...the nurse who took my.blood this morning has a basic mask plastic apron and gloves. I wiped my own arm with alcohol wipe..she has had covid . Asked when she was last in contact with my GP..7 days...I'm absolutely terrified. My anxiety is off the scale..I think.our death rate in UK will rise after prime minister released lockdown measures do at least ive done it now. I don't feel safe to go back any time soon. I really hoped the staff would all be routinely tested by now. Hope you are all keeping safe. Been in 9 weeks alone now. But rather be in than.there

Sorry you have been on your own for so long, gives you more time to think about things, Covid is awful but having your inr out of range can be really serious too. If your nurse had already had the virus if it were me although I would worry it’s hard not to ? I don’t think she would pass anything onto you ? Once you have had it I don’t think you can get it again, the surgery would have been deep cleaned, if you have to have another one speak to the receptionist? They might be able to reassure you.

Thinking of you take care

I would request a District nurse come out to you as I did plus state gp told you not to go in.I have a shielding letter with more complications with health so if you have the letter it will be better for you

Hi. Thankyou for replying...I have mild asthma and underactive thyroid and told to shield. They have no one to come out to me. I've asked..one letter after 2 months of choosing to stay inside i got a letter to shield till end July. Then an nhs text to say shield till end June. Then go said you are only moderate risk you needn't be that strict. Go for a walk if you want to°. Interesting times. Take care

Really I would insist on them that you have letter confirming to shield etc.I normally go on bus to surgery but said I would not risk it n government says to stay in with being high risk.I took few weeks but now they are happy to keep me from being in hospital. Hope all turns out well for you 😊🌼

I know, its horrible isn't it. I understand how you feel so worried under those circumstances. If you can afford it have you thought about buying your own machine. I go in every six months and it may change to yearly just to make sure my machine is still working okay which it always is they are the same machines as they use at the GP surgery anyway. I hope you have a garden and are able to call and FaceTime people. Watch you don't get lonely or depressed from not going out.

Take care
